Kharis Finance | Startup finance and business operations

We run your finances.
You run your business.

The finance and operations team for Seed to Series A startups that aren't ready to hire one. Books, reporting, board and investor work, run every month and led by a former founder, CEO and CFO.

When founders bring us in

If one of these sounds like this month, we should talk.

You just incorporated or just raised.

Money in the bank, no finance setup yet.

We set up the bank, accounting, payroll, cards, cap table and a first 18 to 24 month budget in 4 to 6 weeks.

You've outgrown doing the books yourself.

The close eats your weekends and investors want monthly numbers.

We run the monthly close, burn and runway, cash forecast and investor update numbers.

You're getting ready for a round.

Diligence questions are coming and the numbers aren't ready for them.

On Growth we keep your model, round pro forma and data room current. When you start raising, round preparation is a separate project: investor model, metrics and diligence answers. We don't pitch investors or run your raise.

You're building in the US from abroad.

A Delaware company, an entity back home, and nobody owns the full picture.

We run the US side, coordinate your providers and give you one consolidated view.

Less than your first finance hire. A lot less.

How we work

AI handles the routine work: categorization, reconciliations, first drafts of reports. A senior finance specialist checks every number before it reaches you. That's how the price works.

Alex Kharis

You work with Alex

Alex Kharis leads every engagement and is the person you call. He has spent 20+ years as a founder, COO, CEO and CFO: co-founder and COO of a Y Combinator company, a biotech exit, and a 2,000-person, $150M business he built. He has operated companies across four countries. He holds a master's in finance and spent over a decade as group CFO of a holding he co-founded. He moved to the US in 2014 and has co-founded and run startups here since.

A senior finance specialist and AI workflows do the production work behind him. We are a certified Brex partner (Gold tier), so cards, spend and bill pay get set up right from day one.

Alex's recent work
His personal experience, before Kharis Finance.

Financial architecture for a SaaS company moving from SMB to enterprise: chart of accounts, revenue recognition, a three-year plan.

A finance function from zero: cap table rebuilt from source documents, accounting and investor reporting set up.

An interim CEO mandate: cost structure, restructuring and group-wide planning.

The operational backbone of a consumer hardware company: finance, legal, IP, HR, insurance, banking and international entities.

What clients say

Questions founders ask

Do you replace my bookkeeper?

We can run your books ourselves, or work alongside your current bookkeeper and accountant. Either way, one team owns the numbers.

Do you help us raise money?

Growth keeps your model, round pro forma and data room current. When you start a raise, round preparation is a separate project: investor model, metrics and diligence answers. We don't pitch investors, find investors or run your raise.

What about taxes and legal?

Tax returns go through a CPA partner or your own accountant. We work with your lawyers, or help you find the right ones. We don't provide legal or tax services ourselves. We prepare the numbers and coordinate.

Who does the work?

Alex leads and is your contact. A senior finance specialist does the production work, with AI for the routine parts.

How long is an engagement?

A 3-month minimum, with a fixed monthly fee and no hourly billing.
